Understanding Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is commonly referred to as an eyelid lift. It is a very common procedure that will repair droopy eyelids. Your eyelids over time may lose elasticity, which causes them to sag. Occasionally, fat from behind inside the eye socket moves forward, giving the appearance of "baggy" eyes which if severe can interfere with vision or wearing glasses.
In order to repair other cosmetic defects you will need a different surgery such as a face lift or brow lift. Understanding the difference between these procedures is important when selecting the right plastic surgeon for you best results

Before your bletharoplasty be sure to research your surgeon's qualifications. Do not be afraid to ask them questions directly about their training and experience. A qualified practitioner will be happy to provide you this information.
Consult nurses to ask questions directly related to the physician and the practice in general.
Be sure to ask the nurse questions about the physicians experience with blepharoplasty. Ask how many blepharoplastys the surgeon has performed. Be sure to ask if their residency was in cosmetic surgery.
Discuss if you will need to have a blepharoplasty on all four eyelids. Sometimes the desired results can be achieved by operating on just the lower or upper eyelids. Ask how much tissue will need to be removed and if the plastic surgeon believe extra skin will need to be removed. Ask if any other facial procedure should be performed in addition to the blepharoplasty
Do not forget to discuss the costs associated with the procedure!
